Community News

Check out all the happenings at IGC right here.  General news posts can be found in this section, including any announcements about the addition of new guilds, programming, and all of our fundraising.  Stop back often to hear all about it!

Last night Impact Gaming held it's first community-wide meeting. Many topics were covered, ranging from major community changes, Neutral Impact discussions, and the introduction to Rift to the gaming community! Members from both our FFXIV and Rift chapters attended and offered a lot of great suggestions. The discussions were solid and many additional changes will be taking place as a result of that.

Probably the biggest community news to come from the meeting is that there will be a new website up and running within the next couple of weeks. The new site will be hosted at and will be customized for our needs. This will mean that nearly everything here will change completely! The frontpage and forums will remain the same however. Most importantly, applications will be submitted differently but everything will be much easier to navigate and you will be able to access the majority of content from a single mouse-click. More information will come in the next few weeks and this site will go offline officially at the end of February.

An immediate change to come from this meeting is that we've moved to a new TeamSpeak server. The new address has not been reflected on this frontpage just yet, but can be found on our forums in the Impact Gaming News section. If you want to stop in and chat, we encourage you to hop on!

Stay tuned for a ton of updates coming in the near future. Big things are happening at Impact Gaming and we will keep everyone apprised of what's happening right here on this site until we move to the new one.

With the Rift betas being so well received by the community here, we've managed to get a decent-sized crew for launch day. However seem to be at a loss for someone who wants to seriously dedicate themselves to leading this game branch. Normally it would not be our policy to recruit leaders outside of our gaming community, so for any readers, consider this an opportunity to come and join a growing community of mature and elite players who are looking to break into Rift and get some leadership experience as well.

As the Community Manager, applications must be sent directly to me, and I would prefer them in resume form, however I am flexible in this regard since this is the first time I am seeking a leader outside our circle. That said, our ideal candidate possesses at least the following qualities:

Core Requirements

MMORPG years played: 4-5+ years, at least two titles

Raiding Experience: 3 years minimum (please include specific all experience and progression)

Leadership Experience: 2 years minimum

Team Player: MUST, not negotiable

Age 25+ preferred, mature individual

Good writing skills are REQUIRED

Admin Requirements

Experience with loot distribution/points systems/theory behind these concepts

DKP experience a BIG plus (ZeroSum, EP/GP specifically--as guild leader you will have some flexibility to decide system however)

phpBB admin experience is a plus

Maintenance of forum sections for Rift (moderating, moving threads, etc.)

Overseeing Recruitment (assisting recruitment team sort applications)

Appointing Rift leaders as needed

Maintaining news pages for Rift on forums

Frontpage posting (guild progress updates, raid successes, etc.)

DKP maintenance/point entry (if needed)

Miscellaneous: other tasks required

If you are interested in this position, please contact me at your earliest convenient. The guild leader is a big job, but is support by at least one other leader always, but two preferably. For further details, please email us: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. and we will reply to your inquiry as soon as possible. Please include your name, location (timezone), best way to contact you, and all the above information. Serious applicants ONLY please.

Thank you for your time,

Grey Jorildyn

This past weekend was Rift's "Rise of the Defiants" beta event. We had a little more than a handful of members test the game's first official beta test and generally, they enjoyed it! There was a lot to see and also alot of content to experience. Each of our players worked hard to check out parts of the game that they felt would appeal to them, and the overall feeling after this weekend is that it's nothing really special. Of course, this is only an initial beta, and there isn't much more we can say due to NDA, but we are looking forward to seeing what the Guardians offer, and how the PvP is going to work. Whether or not Impact Gaming will be hosting this game is still up for debate however.

More updates will follow when we can say more and there is more to see!

This morning's early Lodestone post has the FFXIV community roaring!

Big changes are on the horizon for SE's newest MMORPG title and we here at Impact Gaming, and Neutral Impact specifically, are really looking forward to how one of our games is going to shape up in the near future! In short the head honchos over at Square Enix have replaced a big chunk of the development team, including producer and director Tanaka with a few familiar faces, and some new ones. The new project will be headed up by a new guy, Naoki Yoshida, and other positions will be filled by veterans who've worked on the Dragon Quest series, Dark Remnant, Dirge of Cerberus, and other titles.

This has us really looking forward to what is to come. Primarily this means that the game's future is much brighter, and that is good for us indeed! Among all the good news, we're also going to get to continue playing the game for free until they've worked out all the kinks. Sadly though, PS3 release is going to be delayed. But you know what? Who cares as long as you get a solid MMOG to play in a year (or two even).

We are in your hands SE, and eagerly awaiting your next move. Surprise us!!!

Over the past few weeks it's been a big goal of mine to take the linkshell to the next level. At Friday's meeting I made a big announcement to move Neutral Impact into a nested position, where it was a part of something larger than itself. This was the product of a lot of thinking and some very serious decision-making, but here we are now and here we are to stay.

The Impact Gaming Community is more than just a linkshell now, it's a group of adults who play a variety of games. Currently our main focus is Final Fantasy XIV, but we'll be looking to expand into other games over the next few months or years. Maybe we respect each other's gameplay, understand what it means to work as a group, or just like to hang out with one another, but whatever the case, the people mesh well and I am very curious to see how this very same group would do in another game in the future.

There are so many players whom I've come across, and others have gotten to know, that we like gaming with. With that in mind, I wanted to let everyone know that once you're in an Impact Gaming group, you're family, and family sticks together. So here we are, and I know that we will be around for a long, long time!

Neutral Impact (Final Fantasy XIV) Open
Aerial Impact (Rocket League) Open
Critical Impact (Dungeons&Dragons) Open
Static Impact (Final Fantasy XI) Open
