The Secret World -- Part of the IGC Future?

A number of IGC members have approached me with interest in this game, and they are seeking guidance and leadership.  As Community Manager, I would normally take it upon myself to play the game and get the guild off the ground, but eventually I would need to hand the reins off the someone else.  I can't play every MMO in the world after all!

As such, I'm looking for someone to come into our community who has a strong interest in The Secret World, and build our new chapter.  You would need to have some history of guild leading (and success therein).  Of course you would not be alone in this endeavor!  Since I've done this twice before, and have over 10 years of MMO guild leading and structuring experience myself, I will be your personal assistant throughout the entire project, even after you find officers for your guild.  After sometime, I'll let the reins go entirely and just watch your progress.  We have had great success in each of our guilds using this format.  As Community Manager I do not lead your guild, that's all yor and the officers you pick, but I do peek in from time to time to make sure our philosophy, goals, and standards of recruitment and the like are being enforced.

In short, I'm looking for someone to come into IGC and make something great within The Secret World.  No, there's no pay, and everything is free, from web access, Teamspeak use, and the rest.  We are just a group of players who loves gaming and seeing new names and hearing new voices just as much.

If you are interested in this position, contact me immediately via email at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..  I look forward to speaking with you on TS for a short Q & A with me and the other guild leaders (we have to approve you of course!  Don't worry, we don't bite).  Seriously though, we really want to build something amazing in The Secret World and bring in about 30-50 more members before June 2012.  Is this you?  Then what are you waiting for?!

You can see the full post on the matter on The Secret World Official Forums.

I've been putting off writing this article for the better part of two three weeks now because I simply hate to lose things.  Earlier this month IGC lost one of its guilds as it picked up another off of TOR's launch.  Violent Impact officially collapsed after the holiday for a number of reasons, one of which includes the difficulty of keeping a raid guild together under the conditions that Trion allowed to persist within their game.  Unlimited server transfers, buggy instances, and the like were all contributing factors to the guild's end, but regardless of those facts, the outcome was the same.

I'd like to keep things positive though by taking a look back of the successes of the guild, as they are both a testament to the quality of players we brought into the community (and are still around too; more on this in a bit) and the greatness of IGC as a whole.  During its lifetime (3/11-12/11), Violent Impact succeeded in obtaining a plethora of server firsts.  They were active on both the PvE and PvP fronts on Keenblade.  At its inception, VI was only the second guild to become part of the Impact Gaming Community--VI is what turned us into a community!  We expanded from just Neutral Impact into a two-guild community that had high hopes and strong leadership.  I'll never forget its string of leaders or the accomplishments they (the guild) have (these cannot be taken away from them with a simple 'had').  So many of the players were just amazing people and a lot decided to stay on for future games.  Many others joined Radiant Impact, our newest chapter, which plays Star Wars: The Old Republic.

Leadership held VI together through the worst of times.  Its playerbase kept it raiding 3-4 nights a week.  The friendships that have been made are unbreakable bonds now and since the guild's disbanding, a good portion of the guild still graces us regularly with their presence on Teamspeak and the forums.  I'll never forget all the good (and the bad!) times I had in helping shape VI at the start.  I enjoyed watching it blossom into a fully functioning semi-hardcore raid guild in a volatile gaming environment.  Where ever the players now unaccounted for have gone, they remain the true lifeblood of what the guild was and still, and we wish them the best in their gaming endeavors.  We can only hope they will somehow find their way to us when VI is reborn.  Yes, Violent Impact is in fact NOT dead!

Naughtius, the guild leader of Violent Impact, has assured me that the guild will be reformed for the upcoming release of Guild Wars 2 later this year!  For the time being everything about VI simply remains in hiding (some of it in plain sight) and many members will make their triumphant return in AreaNet's follow up to their previous smash hit onling multiplayer game of dragons and mayhem!  That said, we will inform everyone when recruitment for GW2 is opening up ahead of time.  If you're interested in a group that is looking to smash face in GW2 in the near future, then check back often.  We'll still be here (:p) and I guarantee you'll have one of the most amazing groups of players at your side if you do!

Good luck to Violent Impact in its future endeavors!

We will be glad to see your return in Guild Wars 2!

We're Growing Up!

The Impact Gaming Community is one year old now and it's been a fantastic twelve months for us!

Last year Neutral Impact started it all but since October '10 we've seen the rise of two new chapters, Violent Impact and Radiant Impact.  Violent Impact has done an amazing job keeping up with content in Rift and destroying it too!  Radiant Impact hss been in heavy recruitment over the past two months and is ready for deployment in Star Wars: The Old Republic.  Our founding guild has done an excellent job clearing FFXIV dungeons and is waiting for the next big thing now.

IGC was busy all year.  We saw the addition of a WoW guild (Sudden Impact) for a short time, and although they did not stick around, he made some great contacts.  VI merged with a guild on Keenblade and brought in a plethora of solid players.  NI did a few repearlings and did away with DKP for the good of the linkshell.  We've recruited over 100 unique players to our community over the past year and have maintained at least that number of active players for some time now.  Our media teams have been on the ball posting screenshots, making videos, and bumping recruitment posts as well.  Honestly, what HASN'T been happening?  So much has been going on it's hard to keep track of it all!

Of course, it hasn't been all sunshine and rainbows.  We've seen many players come and go, as well as leaders.  We've had our failures, wipes, and arguments.  We've seen changes of the guard in nearly every facet of the community.  There's been disagreements, feuds, and we've even made some enemies!  But ya know what?  It comes with the territory.  Our players are experienced enough in the MMO world to know that's just standard operating procedure for guilds and communities alike.  Through it all we've managed to stay stable, be successful, gain notoriety, and move forward in all our active chapters.  We miss all those players who were once a part of our family and hope that they are successful in whatever they've chosen to do, no matter where they're playing now.

That said, I want to dedicate this one to all the players who have stuck with us through thick and thin and who are still kicking ass!  I of course cannot forget the players who are now with us and helping us grow our community every day, with every zone clear, boss-downing, PvP slaughterfest, guild meeting, or teamspeak chat.  I speak on behalf of all IGC staff when I say Thank You for being there to make our community bigger, better, and bringing it to the next level!

Keep rocking guys, for the rest of the year and all those to come.  Remember that without you, there is no community, no guild, no fun.  The player is what makes the community what it is, not me or any of the leaders by themselves.

So raise a glass for yourselves today!!!

Happy Birthday IGC!!!

Sudden Impact arrives on the scene!

In an interesting turn of events, former Violent Impact members Chitotheodos and Nicblue have returned to IGC with a small 10-man WoW raiding guild.  They approached me only a few hours ago about bringing their guild to IGC as its official WoW chapter.  How could I say no to rhe biggest MMO on the market and two solid members who are raiding in semi-hardcore fashion three nights a week?  It was a no-brainer!

Over the next couple of days IGC will welcome the arrival of 8 new members from our newest chapter, Sudden Impact, to the fray.  Let's all give a loud, warm welcome to our new comrades in arms!  Whether you are saving Eorzea, fighting back the relentless Guardians, or spitting in Alliance wind, you are our friends.  It's always good to see us moving forward and expanding ever-larger.

Until next time everyone... for the Horde!

Is growing larger!

IGC is really taking off in the latter half of this year!  Not only are we building two new gaming chapters, but minor guilds are also popping up.  Right now we are discussing ways to increase our exposure on the net to extend our reach even further.

We here at Impact Gaming want everyone to know who we are.  We want to become somewhat of a household name in the gaming community at large and draw in more and more players each day.  A few of the ways we plan to do this are already in the works.  For example, our site now streams news from popular MMO feeds right to the frontpage!  Soon, game masters here at IGC will also become Assistant Community Managers and will be out there trying to bring you to our website and into our fold as well.

The "Friends & Family" policy, pioneered by Violent Impact, has become a standard across our community as well.  While we still cater to the semi-hardcore gamer lifestyle, we also share our knowledge in teachable moments to upcoming players within our guilds.  In the coming weeks we will also be seeking sponsorship from certain database websites that we are already loosely affiliated with.

Bookmark us right now as new things are happening each and every day (no joke)!  And of course, if I didn't mention that you are always welcome to hop on our TS, apply to one of our guilds, or just talk to us in-game, I wouldn't be a very good Community Manager now would I?

Rock on gamers.
