Now with more 2014!

Before we get this thing started I want to first give a big congrats to the winners of Project Impact 2013.  Ald took first place, Rath took second, and Churchill wasn't far behind in third place.  The prizes have been sent and now it's time to start anew with some revamped rules!  If you're still confused about what Project Impact is, fear not, for I have pasted the description from last year's post below!

Project Impact is a movement with the Impact Gaming Community to encourage members to bring their friends, family, and other new players into our ranks!  We like new members, and we know members like shiny things, so shiny things will be our prizes.  So, you're gonna earn points and the top three winners will get to pick a prize from an ever-growing list of awesome gamer goodies!

Wanna know more?  Of course you do!  Read on.

How it Works!

Members who refer new players to our community that are then voted in or otherwise become IGC members (Friends & Family rank included) will receive "Impact Points" (IP).  You can earn Impact Points in the following ways:

  • +1 for Each time you refer an applicant to our community (via application process)
  • +1 for every 40 posts on the forums (starting 1/1/14, only posts in gaming sections count!)
  • +X for making a significant contribution to your guild (e.g. Member of the Month or other promotions done within your own guild; reward amount at leader's discretion)
  • +X for making a significant contribution to the community (e.g. Writing a guide, joining the podcast, etc.)

Many other ways will be added as we go forward based on member involvement and interest!

IP will be kept track of in a google document and at the end of each quarter I will post an update about the current leaders of Project Impact.  The top three players with the most IP by year's end will be the winners!

The Prizes

Three winners will be selected at the end of year and announced at the following community meeting.  All moneys from our CafePress shop and from donations will go towards prize funds.  I'll pay the difference out of my own pocket.  The actual physical prize itself is selected by the winner and can be any gaming peripheral or game-store gift card that is equal to or less than the value of the prize.  So what are those values exactly?  Well...

 First Place: $75**

Second Place: $50

Third Place: $20

Each winner will also receive a FREE T-shirt of their choice from clothing store!  Excited yet?  Well you should be!  If you are interested in participating, check out the rules and eligibility below for all the details and qualifications to join this initiative within IGC today!  Now for the "legal" stuff...

Rules & Eligibility

  • You must be a current member of an Official Chapter or Gamer Group to earn Impact Points.
  • Officers are excluded from claiming prizes.
  • Members can only earn IP once from recruiting a member, so if they leave IGC and come back later, they still count as only member recruited.
  •  **I will not send you cash so don't ask.
  • Prizes must be a gaming-related accessory or peripheral item worth the prize amount or less.  If less you can received the difference in Steam Wallet or as a Gamestop gift card barring any restrictions (ie. Steam Wallet is either $20 or $50 only).
  • The last day to earn IP for the year is the last day of the year!

The Final Word

OK so that's it!  Project Impact 2013 was a great success.  We saw over 30 unique members get recruited to the community and a couple of guides get written on the forums.  With a new year comes new games, new guilds, new players, and the potential for new friendships.  This is what IGC is all about!  So tell your friends to join up and earn those Impact Points!  Ald racked up 24 points last year so that's the total to beat!

Good luck to everyone this year!
